Senate Unanimously Votes to Ban Memes in Political Advertising

In a historic vote, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Maintaining Integrity in Elections by Minimizing Memes Act (MIME Act). The act bans the use of internet memes in all political advertising, starting with the upcoming elections. Senators agreed that memes are frequently used to spread misinformation and manipulate voters, thereby undermining the integrity of the electoral process. The law, however, leaves open the question of how exactly a meme will be defined and who will be responsible for enforcement. Critics raise concerns about censorship and free speech, while supporters argue it's a necessary measure to protect the democratic process. Further debate promises to be vigorous as the bill heads to the House of Representatives.
